The play "Foc i Fum" announces the upcoming festivities of Sant Joan
The awaited fiestas of Ciutadella are about to start.
On June 16, 17 and 18 in the Teatre del Casino 17 de Gener de Ciutadella there will be the performances of the light operetta "Foc i Fum" (1885). This popular lyrical work by Francesc d'Assís de Rosselló i Sintes (1828-1898) with text by Joan Benejam i Vives (1846-1922) is performed once again for the festivity of Sant Joan. The play describes a love triangle, in the fiestas, between Na Francina, daughter of a family of peasants, En Rafel, her boyfriend and En Bartolomeu de Son Ticaque, who, thanks to a seller of hazelnuts, En Toni, manages to conquer young Francina.
This year the stage direction is by Joan Moncada and the musical direction by Josep Mercadal. There will be performance on Friday 16th (22:00 h), Saturday 17 (22:00 h) and Sunday 18 (11:00 h).
The same weekend, on Saturday night, June 17, the groups Inventari and Cris Juanico con los Mags de Binigall in the Jaume II square. And the day after, Sunday 18, the traditional "Dia des Be" will take place.
