Exhibition at the Sa Nostra Cultural Hall in Maó.
With the aim of promoting the important natural and cultural heritage that salt production has left us, the Sa Nostra Cultural Hall in Maó is holding until April 22nd the exhibition "Salt flats of the Balearics. The invented landscape". The audiovisual installation produced by the Sa Nostra Foundation and commissioned by Miquel Frontera, features information about eleven salt flats in the Balearic Islands:
The exhibition also includes tools related to salt production and some related works of great cultural interest such as the photographies by Francesc Català-Roca, the filmography by Jacinto Esteva or the poetry by Marià Villangómez. The salt flats of the islands, some of which have been working since the punic or roman times, represent nowadays a heritage that is disappearing as the only ones that continue in function are the salt flats of Eivissa, Es Salobrar in Campos and Els Estanys in la Colònia de Sant Jordi.
