The
XIV edition of the Summer
School for Public Health will be held from September 15 to 21 at the
Llatzeret in the Port of Maó. The programme includes a wide range
of courses, workshops and meetings, in which people from all levels of
action in the public health will participate, covering investigation to
the formulation of transnational health policies.
The Llatzeret, in the mouth of the port of Maó, facing the municipality
of Es Castell, was originally a peninsular but in the XIX century was transformed
in islet via the construction of an artificial canal in the isthmus that
joined it to the north coast of the port, with a view to holding contagious
patients and vessels in quarantine. At present is has a residence administered
by the Ministry of Health, base for the Summer School for Public Health
held there every year.
