Summer activities in the quarries of s'Hostal
Another year, the spectacular quarries of s'Hostal will be the venue for different cultural activities, organised by Lithica, the cultural association that manages this space. This year the program includes shows, fiestas, cinema and workshops.

As for shows, there will be A "Mediterranean Night" with music and images (July 12), a "Gospel concert" included in the Festival de Música de les JJMM de Ciutadella (July 26) and a "Menorcan Night" (August 22).

As for cinema, there will be two films: "Calle 54" by Fernando Trueba (July 18) and "Yellow Submarine" by The Beatles (August 2).

The popular "Full Moon Party" (August 12) has also been programmed this year, with Pinyeta Pinyol, La Vieja Catana, Geli Peralta + Arena, and Nuria Moltó.

And for those who wish to take some exercise, there are two proposals: the first is a Tai-chi workshops and the second is a sandstone workshop.

SES PEDRERES DE S'HOSTAL: ETHNOLOGICAL HERITAGE

The s'Hostal quarries of sandstone were exploited until 1994. Líthica, a cultural association constituted with the main objective of preserving, restoring and rehabilitating the sandstone quarries, rented them in 1995 and, with the support of the Menorcan Council, has cleaned them and conditioned them to receive visits.

Visitors are able to observe the manual quarries, which are over 200 years old, and the mechanical quarries, that started working at the middle of the XX century with circular saws. The space also includes a botanic garden dedicated to the production of autochthonous plants.

Visiting times from April to October are from 9.30 a.m. until sunset, and in July and August from 9.30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and from 5 to 9 p.m.
