E-learning, new European portal
On February 4, at the Learntec 2003 conference in Karlsruhe, the European commissioner for education and culture, Viviane Reding, launched the elearningeuropa.info portal, a virtual meeting place and directory of information for all aspects of e-learning.

In her speech, Viviane Reding focused on the four priority areas of the proposed European eLearning Programme, which will run from 2004 - 2006:

1. The fight against the digital divide.
2. The deployment of European virtual campuses.
3. The schools e-twinning.
4. The implementation of the eLearning Action Plan.
