Folk dances in Fornells

Folk dances in Fornells
Menorcan "Balladors" and "sonadors" perform every Friday this summer in Fornells

The Menorcan Federation of Folk Groups (FEMEFOLK) has organised a programme of folk dances to show the traditional Menorcan music, dances and dresses to tourists and residents of this small village of the northern coast of the island. The performances take place every Friday at 8.30 p.m., until the end of August, in an excellent frame, with the Church of Sant Antoni and the sea in the background.

Last Friday, within the programme of the Patron Saint Festivities for Sant Antoni, the folk group of Sant Miquel performed. This group was founded in 1971 in the parish of Sant Miquel in Ciutadella.

On Friday, August 2, the dancers and musicians of the Grup folklòric Ciutadella will perform, and on Friday 9, the Grup de balls populars Arrels de Sant Joan, also from Ciutadella.

On Friday 16, the group in charge of the show will be the Grup de ball es Penell from Ferreries, and on Friday 23, the Grup folklòric Castell de Sant Felip from Es Castell.

The last performance, by the Escola de música i ball de Sant Lluís, will be on Friday 30.
