Next Saturday, June 15, at 8 p.m. at the Sala de Cultura "Sa Nostra"
in Maó the book "En Tomeu i na Guida, una història gegant"
by Miquel Villalonga Coll will be presented. The work gives a trip through
the long history of these two giants, who reached Menorca in 1934, rented
to perform in the fiestas of Gràcia, and that were bought the following
year by the Town Council.
The presentation of the book coincides with the exhibition "1992-2002,
10 anys de geganters a Maó" that can be visited in the same Hall,
from June 14 to 22. The exhibition, presided by the giants of Maó,
is a trip through the career of the present group of Geganters i Grallers
de Maó, who make En Tomeu and Na Guida dance, together with other
figures that have joined the family, such as En Pere, Na Gràcia
and En Miquelet "Es Salero", amongst others.
More information can be found about the group on
this
page of the giants and devils of Maó, by Kiko Camps. And on
this
other
page of the
Club de Menorca
there is also information about the group of Geganters de Maó and
about other groups of giants on the Island.
