Book Day in Ciutadella

In Ciutadella the fiesta for Saint George is to be held this weekend. Books will go out into the street on April 27 and 28 and will convert the Cathedral square into an authentic showcase of the latest editorial novelties.

On Saturday at 11 a.m. a little before the reading of the proclamation, there will be folk dancing organised by Femfolk, in the Placeta del Roser, by the folk group Es Born. At noon, the writer and illustrator of books, Mercè Arànega, will read the proclamation for Sant Jordi and afterwards will sign copies of her latest collection, "La Granota Lola". This ceremony will be held in the Cathedral square, organised by the bookshop Pau and the publishing house Editorial Baula.

After lunch, the Municipal School of Art has organised a collective activity that consists in the creation of a giant book, in the square, as from 5 p.m. And on Sunday 28 the entertainment will be by the Agrupación Musical de Ciutadella, who will carry out a street parade round the centre of the city.
