Sixteen "de-isolations" in Barcelona

Sixteen "de-isolations" in Barcelona
The paintings of the islands show their global vocation in Barcelona

As from this morning and until March 31, at the Centre d'Art Santa Mònica in Barcelona, the exhibition "Desaïllaments" can be enjoyed, an exhibition of the present state of paintings in the Balearics. As from the exhibition of works by 16 island artists, we are shown 16 examples of the definite connection of the Balearic art with the international language of the era, a process that is consolidated as from the 70s.  Island art with global vocation.

The majority of the authors who are exhibiting their work were born in the 50s and started work in the 70s, with two earlier exceptions: the Ibizans Rafel Tur Costa and Vicent Calbet. In Eivissa of the 50s and 60s there is an important presence by foreign artists who influenced the Pitius painters.

The exhibition, organised by both the Balearic Government and the Generalitat de Catalunya, will be presented in May in Rome and afterwards at a later date to be decided, in Berlin. Works can be seen by the Mallorcans: Ramon Canet, Vicenç Torres, Andreu Terrades, Ángel Pascual, Joan Bennàssar, Maria Carbonero, Menéndez Rojas, Rafa Forteza, Bernardí Roig, Patxi Echeverria, Guillem Nadal and Antoni Socias, by the Menorcan Maties Quetglas, and the Argentinean resident on Mallorca, Horacio Sapere, as well as those mentioned from Eivissas.

The entrance to the exhibition is free and photographs can be seen of the vernissage held yesterday evening on the web of the agency Shooting.
