Domra & Piano: concert by Sawtschenko & Freund

The Teatre des Born in Ciutadella will hold on Friday at 9 p.m. a concert of Russian music for domra and piano by Michail Sawtschenko (Taganrog, Russia, 1962) and Lothar Freund (Aschaffenburg, Germany, 1962).

The Domra is said to be the precursor of the Balalaika. Its story dated back to about 600 years ago. Along with the Balalaika the Domra belongs belongs to the typical Russian Folk instruments, used to play Russian Folk songs or to accompany singers. In 1950 the Domra officially becomes a subject at musical conservatories and colleges of music.

The repertoire of the concert that Michail Sawtschenko and Lothar Freund will offer in Ciutadella gives an exact impression and overview of how the Domra is played in the Russia of the present time.
