J. Vives Llull. L'home i el col·leccionista
The Museum of Menorca in Maó is holding until July 30, 2002,
the exhibition "J. Vives Llull. L'home i el col·leccionista". The

and Culture of the Balearic Goverment, is part of the events programmed
for the "Vives Llull Year", promoted by the Maó Town Council to
commemorate the birth centenary of the artist.
Joan Vives Llull (1901-1982) was one of the most important Menorcan
artists in the XX century. He was also a professor, an antique dealer and
a collector, and together with his wife, Antònia Campomar, he created
a big collection of antique objects that after his death became part of
the Museum of Menorca, according to the artist's will.
The exhibition presents some 500 antique objects, including drawings,
paintings, popular carvings and furniture produced on Menorca in the XVIII
and XIX centuries, Menorcan dresses from the XVII to the XIX centuries
and some other pieces produced outside the island, that are on Menorca
because of different reasons, such as ceramics, porcelains, glasses and
jewels.
