"Foc i Fum" to start the festivities for Sant Joan

The awaited fiestas of Ciutadella are about to start.

On June 18, 19 and 20, in the Salesian School Sant Francesc de Sales, there will be the performances of the light operetta "Foc i Fum" (1885). This popular lyrical work by Francesc d'Assís de Rosselló i Sintes (1828-1898) with text by Joan Benejam i Vives (1846-1922) is performed once again for the festivity of Sant Joan. The play describes a love triangle, in the fiestas, between Na Francina, daughter of a family of peasants, En Rafel, her boyfriend and En Bartolomeu de Son Ticaque, who, thanks to a seller of hazlenuts, En Toni, manages to conquer young Francina.

This year the stage direction is by Mutis Teatre and the musical direction by Joan Mesquida Faner. There will be performances on Friday 18 (22:00 h), Saturday 18 (22:00 h) and Sunday 20 (11:00 h).

The same weekend, on Saturday night, June 19, the group Inventari will give a concert in the square of the Cathedral, and the day after the traditional "Dia des Be" will take place.
