The
Municipal
exhibition hall of El Roser in Ciutadella will house from November
12 to December 4 the exhibition "A portrait in black and white. The photographs
of Cas Oorthuys". The exhibition produced by the
Fundación
"la Caixa" and commissioned by Jaume Martorell and Noemi Vallespir,
groups some 80 photographs taken in the Balearics during the spring of
1962 by the Dutch photographer
Cas
Oorthuys (1908-1975).
The photos in black and white that are presented in this exhibition
come from the
Netherlands Photo Archives Foundation
(NFA) in Rotterdam and are a selection of the 3,000 photographs taken to
illustrate a book about the Balearics for the editorial Contact. The majority
of these photographs of people, scenes and customs of the Balearic society
are unedited, as finally only 84 were used for the publication.
The entrance is free and the visiting times are from Monday to Saturday
from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
