"Foc i Fum" to start the programme of the festivities for Sant Joan

The awaited "Festes de Sant Joan" in Ciutadella are about to start

This weekend in the Teatre Municipal des Born of Ciutadella there will be the performances of the light operetta "Foc i Fum" (1885). This popular lyrical work by Francesc d'Assís de Rosselló i Sintes (1828-1898) with text by Joan Benejam i Vives (1846-1922) is performed once again for the festivity of Sant Joan. The play describes a love triangle, in the fiestas, between Na Francina, daughter of a family of peasants, En Rafel, her boyfriend and En Bartolomeu de Son Ticaque, who, thanks to a seller of hazlenuts, En Toni, manages to conquer young Francina.

This year the stage direction is by Sebastià de la Fuente and the musical direction by Josep Agustí Colom. There will be performances on Friday 20 (22:00 h), Saturday 21 (22:00 h) and Sunday 22 (11:00 h).
