This weekend the XVI Menorcan Partridge Fair will be held in the old
barracks in Es Mercadal, organised by the
Town
Council of Mercadal, the Balearic and the
Spanish
Hunting Federation, and the Partridge Society of Menorca.
The events will start on Saturday, February 1 at 3.30 p.m. with an exhibition
of falconry, an exhibition of sling throwing open to the public, and new
this year a debate on hunting, that will take place at 7 p.m. in the Medical
Centre.
On Sunday 2, there will be the traditional partridge contest and the
demonstration of hunting with a male decoy. On that day, as usual there
will also be an exhibition of hunting dogs and paella competition. Throughout
Sunday morning there will also be a fair, as well as the exhibition by
artists from Mercadal and Fornells, installed in the old barracks since
January 17, Sant Antoni's day.
