Within the framework of the International Car Free Day, and with the
slogan "In town, without my car!", next Sunday, September 22, 1.309 European
municipalities will participate in the celebration of the
European
Car Free Day with a view to giving the public the opportunity to practice
other forms of mobility alternative to the private car and to offer them
the possibility of rediscovering the city, its inhabitants and its heritage.
The cities from the Balearic Islands that will participate this year in
the campaign are Palma, Maó and Eivissa.
The Balearic ecologist groups have also organised activities around
this date. Worth mentioning is the "IV Massa Crítica per Palma",
a critical mass ride day organised by the
GOB-Mallorca
to call attention to cities designed only for cars, that will be held on
Thursday, September 19.
More over, 321 European cities will participate from September 16 to
22 in the first edition of the
European
Mobility week promoted by the European Union.
