Nito, Víctor and Miquel –the Pinyeta Pinyol– have been making
children sing and dance for 20 years. How many performances will
they have given in these two long decades? A thousand? They
do not even know.
"Nobody, like the Pinyeta Pinyol, has contributed in Menorca to the
survival and strength of children's popular music" explains Josep Portella
Coll, Councillor for Culture of the
Consell
Insular de Menorca, and "I think that we have many things to thank
them for". Therefore the Council has organised a very special fiesta
to be celebrated in the Parc des Freginal in
Maó
next Saturday September 28, as part of the "
Diades
de Cultura Popular". A fiesta that will have the participation of the
Pinyeta Pinyol and other great entertainers of children's music from Catalunya,
such as
Noé
Rivas,
Miqui Giménez
and
Rah-mon Roma. There will also
be performances by the Colles de Geganters de Maó and Llucmaçanes,
the puppet group Trukitrek, the Colla de Diables de Maó,
S'Albaida,
the
Ministrils del Raval...
The performances will start at 4.30 p.m. and will continue until midnight.
Also in between each performance, there will be stories with the Associació
de Rondallaires i Contacontes, and children's games by the excursion groups
Paco Ramonell and Sant
Antoni. In the Park there will also be stands with folklore books and popular
culture, artisanware, typical biscuits, etc.
