Sant Lluís will celebrate from August 14 to 26 the patron saint
fiestas, dedicated to Saint Louis, King of France, and from August 30 to
September 1 the town will hold the fiestas for Sant Lluïset.
The central part of the programme will take place from August 23 to
25. The activities programmed for Friday 23 will begin at 7.30 p.m. with
the popular street parade, followed by theatre, a ceremony in homage to
Antònia Gomila Serra, a dance show and the reading of the official
proclamation of the fiestas. At 10 p.m. there will be fire races
and the day will end with music by the group Tentations.
Bell ringing on Saturday at 4.30 p.m. will announce the start of the
street parade with the Band, and the time when the "fabioler" will start
the gathering of "caixers". The start of the "Qualcada" presided by the
"caixer batle", is expected at 6.30 pm. At 8 p.m. there will be the "solemnes
completes" in the church and afterwards the "caixers" will mount their
horses and offer the neighbours and visitors the typical "jaleo" in the
square of the church, which will end with a "caragol" round the streets
of the town. At approximately 11.30 p.m. the dance will start at Sa Creu.
On Sunday, at 8.15 a.m. the groups of giants and giantheads will go
round the streets of Sant Lluís and the protocol will continue.
At 10.30 a.m. the "Missa de caixers" in the church with the traditional
share out of "aigua-ros". Afterwards there will be the typical "Jaleo"
before the church with the hand out of green canes and silver spoons. This
will be followed by refreshments in the Town Hall with popular sangria.
In the evening, there is the traditional float parade and the day ends
with the second popular dance and a firework display.
On Monday, the activities will continue and then three days' rest until
the "Festes de Sant Lluïset", that will start on Friday August
30 and will continue until Sunday September 1. The fiestas de Sant Lluïset
include a popular dance, a rock and roll night on Friday 30; a children's
party, the Qualcada de Sant Lluïset, Jaleo and dance on Saturday 31;
and
clay pigeon shooting, Qualcada, Jaleo, donkey races and dance on Sunday,
September 1.
