Open Air Cinema

Last June 28, in Alaior the "Cinema a la Fresca - Estiu 2002" cycle started, of films dubbed in Catalan, organised by the Department of Culture of the Consell de Menorca and the eight Town Councils of the island, sponsored by the Direcció General de Política Lingüística of the Balearic Government.

The cycle will last until August 30 with a total of 31 projections in the different municipalities of Menorca, namely in the following places: Dalt es Fossar d'Alaior; the square Mercat des Castell; the Casa de Cultura; Líthica, the squares Princesa Joana, Menorca and Joan de Borbó and the children's park Calespiques in Ciutadella; the square of the church of Ferreries; the Carrer del Mar in Fornells; the basketball court in Llucmaçanes; the children's part in Es Mercadal; the square of the church and the patio of the Town Hall of Es Migjorn Gran; The Neighbours' Association office in Sant Climent; and the square Sa Creu in Sant Lluís.

The films for adults will be: Agnes Browne, Chocolat, El cap de la por, El carrer de la Mitja Lluna, El Sant, Forrest Gump, Íntim i personal, Què t'hi jugues, Mari Pili?, Choir music and Segrestant la Srta. Tingle; and for children: Doraemon and a thousand and one adventures; Chicken Run, Shrek and Un ratolí dur de pelar.

This year, the novelty is that some of the sessions will have the presence and performance of the group Jardins de Morbònia, who will interpret balads in the beginning of the films.
