The Ecomuseu de Cap de Cavalleria is to be found in the extreme north
of the island, in the property of Santa Teresa, a privileged environment
that includes the natural port of Sanitja, the island of Es Porros, the
Roman city of Sanisera, s'Almadrava, el Faro, la torre inglesa...
El Ecomuseu shows in an interactive and educational way the results
and part of the archaeological remains recovered in the excavations of
the Roman city Sanisera, in the Roman camp -that can also be visited- and
in other places of interest situated within the field of Ecomuseu, such
as the Port de Sanitja, where underwater prospections have been started
to evaluate the naval commerce, nautical engineering and the relation of
Menorca with the Balearics and the whole Mediterranean.
Sanisera is the only Roman city on Menorca that can be excavated completely,
and is one of the best testimonies about the Roman stay on the island.
El Ecomuseu is administered by the Associació Sa Nitja, a private
non-lucrative entity that has the main objectives to study, preserve and
inform about the natural and cultural heritage.
