The theatre group of the
Ateneu
de Maó, with Laura Pons in charge, is preparing a poetic show
dedicated to the Spanish poet
Rafael
Alberti, for the centenary of his birth, that will premier on May 11
at 9 p.m. in the Sala Augusta in Maó.
The tribute to the poet from Cadiz, that can also be seen the following
day, May 12 at 8 p.m., will have different participations. On the one hand
the Menorcan soprano, Maria Camps will interpret poems by Alberti with
music by
Montsalvatge,
accompanied by the Mallorcan pianist, David Moedano. On the other hand,
young Carlos Mangado, with his guitar, will also sing poems by Alberti,
with music by
Paco Ibáñez.
A recital by Jordi Ordí, Joan Cubas, Manel Soldevila, Laura Pons
and Pili Lucena completes this production that will have luxurious scenery
by Andreu Sànchez and lighting by Pere Fiol. The decor will not
forget the poet's plastic facet and will include a composition based on
blowups of his paintings carried out by Glòria Sbert.
According to Laura Pons, director of the theatre group of the Ateneu
of Maó, it is foreseen that after the premier in Maó the
work will be presented in other parts of the island, but "this depends
on the Department of Culture" of the
Consell
de Menorca, who collaborates in this production.
