One more, coinciding with the arrival of the better weather and the
tourist season, the Torre de Fornells, which is situated in the extreme
North of the town of Fornells, reopens its doors to the public. This
defence tower on the north of the Menorcan coast, one of the largest on
the island, was built during the English occupation, between 1801 and 1802,
with the view to controlling and protecting the entry to the port of Fornells.
For this reason it is situated on a high point with excellent views and
its shape is strengthened, as if it were a small impregnable castle.
The monument can be visited all summer, until November, and the entrance
is free. The first two days of open doors, on March 23 and 24, visiting
times will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. During Holy Week, from 26 to
31, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. As from April and until the closure
in November, visiting will be from Tuesday to Saturday from 11 a.m. to
2 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m., and on Sundays only from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
