The
Centro de Medicina Subacuática
de Menorca, directed by Dr. Jordi Moyà and Dr. Alejandro Fernández,
was founded in 1997, with the aim of covering an unquestionable necessity
on Menorca: a specialised medical attention for all those who practice
deep sea fishing and diving, very popular sports on Menorca, due to the
excellent conditions of the coast and waters of the island.
To share their work with the resident and visitants of Menorca, and
show the richness of the Menorcan submarine heritage, the Centre organises
every year, at Christmas, audiovisual shows based on commented diaporamas
(slide-shows). This year the show includes a report on the Menorcan submarine
caves by
Guido
Pfeiffer and his wife Flory Caló, expert divers resident in
Menorca and directors of the
"SUB"
and "
FOTOSUB" magazines; and
a virtual tour to the Papua New Guinea coasts, realised by
Pierfranco
Dilenge, who is 5 times world champion of submarine photography. The
images are commented by Alfonso Buenaventura, author of books such as "
Naufragios
y siniestros de la costa de Menorca" and "Menorca, Atlas náutico"
The show was presented on January 1, at the Teatre Municipal des Born
in Ciutadella, with great success, and on Friday 4, at 8.30
p.m. it will be screened at the Teatre Principal in Maó.
