Rent-a-cars: necessary limitation

The GOB Menorca requests a limit to the number of rent-a-car vehicles during the summer on Menorca.

According to the ecological organisation, the recognised figure of 13,000 new vehicles for rent-a-car firms, that in July of last year were added to the island's number of cars, and the tendency of constant growth that this activity is registering, implies the urgent need to consider a limit in the number of vehicles that, every summer, saturate the roads and streets of Menorca.

The GOB thinks that the excess in vehicles goes against the quality of life and tourist image of Menorca. In this sense, the ecological organisation requests the institutions and the businesses connected to the industry, to act in a responsible way, limiting the automobile pressure and the capacity of sustainable load for the island.
