On June 14, the Teatre Principal de Mao reopened its doors, after five
years of reformations, with the presentation of the opera Falstaff by Guisseppe
Verdi, in which the Menorcan baritone, Joan Pons, was performing.
The event was presided by Frencesc Antich, the president of the Balearic
Government, Joana Barceló, president of the Menorcan council and
Artur Bagur, Mayor of Maó.
The Teatre Pricipal de Maó was built in 1829 by the architect
and singer, Giovanni Palagi, following the schemes and decoration of the
Italian theatres of the XVIII century.
