RIU Hotels reach 11.500 employees
The firm foresees a total of 12,000 employees by the end of 2001.

The setting up of their first hotel in Jamaica, Riu Tropical Bay, and the seventh in Tenerife, Apartohotel Riu Adeje, makes the present personnel of  RIU Hotels almost 11.500 employees.

According to hotel chain, they envisage closing the year with 500 more employees, due to the incorporation of the new hotels: Riu Park El Kebir, in Hammamet in Tunis; and Riu Palace Madeira, in the Portuguese island, in July.

Meanwhile, the international magazine,  "Green Hotelier", specialising in hostelry and environment, praises in their April issue the programme of environmental measures adopted by RIU in the last five years. "Green Hotelier" is a publication in English distributed by  International Hotels Environment Initiative (IHEI), an organisation in favour of the environment that includes prestigious world hotel chains, such as Hilton, Marriott or Radisson, and is presided by Prince Charles of Wales.
